Malta may be a small island — just 17 miles long and 9 miles wide — but it holds one of the most powerful concentrations of ancient Goddess temples in the world. With over 66 recorded megalithic sites, Malta is home to some of the oldest sacred temples on Earth, many dating back more than 6,000 years.

These temples were not simply architectural wonders — they were sanctuaries of the Divine Feminine, places of womb wisdom, fertility rites, cosmic alignment, and spiritual renewal. It is no surprise that Malta has become a magnet for women’s retreats, spiritual pilgrimages, and Goddess devotion.

Sacred Temples, Divine Feminine Healing & Life Changing Adventures for Women’s in Malta & Gozo!

Malta: A Sacred Land of Ancient Temples & the Divine Feminine

Malta is home to some of the oldest freestanding temples in the world, built over 5,000 years ago—predating both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. These remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites continue to fascinate archaeologists, historians and spiritual seekers alike.

Many researchers believe the prehistoric temple builders honoured a Great Mother Goddess, representing creation, fertility, the cycles of life, and our deep connection to the Earth. The famous Sleeping Lady and other Goddess figurines discovered across Malta have become enduring symbols of feminine wisdom, abundance and regeneration.

For many women, visiting these sacred places evokes a profound sense of remembrance—a feeling of slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and returning to the wisdom that already lives within.

This is one of the reasons Malta has become such a powerful destination for women’s retreats, Divine Feminine retreats, and spiritual journeys.

Why Malta is a Powerful Destination for a Women’s Retreat

There is something deeply transformative about Malta.

Perhaps it is the extraordinary history beneath your feet.

Perhaps it is the rhythm of island life, the turquoise Mediterranean waters, dramatic coastlines, and breathtaking sunsets.

Or perhaps it is simply the opportunity to step away from everyday responsibilities and immerse yourself in beauty, nature and stillness.

During our Spirit of the Goddess Women’s Retreat, we combine these inspiring landscapes with Kundalini Yoga, breathwork, meditation, sacred ceremony, sound healing, and temple exploration, creating space to reconnect with yourself while experiencing one of Europe’s most remarkable spiritual destinations.

Whether you’re seeking healing, personal growth, meaningful sisterhood, or simply time to breathe, Malta offers the perfect setting to restore balance and reconnect with your authentic self.

Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum – An Underground Temple Like No Other

One of the highlights of our retreat is an exclusive private visit to the extraordinary Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, one of Malta’s most treasured archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dating from around 4000 BC, this remarkable underground temple complex is the only known prehistoric subterranean temple of its kind.

Its chambers, intricate carvings and remarkable acoustics have inspired generations of archaeologists and spiritual seekers alike. The famous Sleeping Lady figurine discovered here has become one of Malta’s most iconic symbols of the Divine Feminine.

Walking through this extraordinary space is a truly unforgettable experience—one that invites quiet reflection, reverence and a deep appreciation for the people who created these sacred places thousands of years ago.

Private access is extremely limited, making this one of the most unique experiences included in our retreat.

Ħaġar Qim & Mnajdra – Sacred Temples by the Sea

Malta Women's Retreat Guide: Explore Sacred Temples & Awaken Your Inner Goddess Kundalini Goddess

Perched high above the Mediterranean coastline, Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra are among Malta’s most spectacular prehistoric temples.

These magnificent stone structures are carefully aligned with the movements of the sun, demonstrating the remarkable astronomical knowledge of their builders.

Standing within these ancient chambers, surrounded by sea and sky, it’s easy to understand why so many visitors describe the experience as deeply moving.

The temples of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra sit dramatically overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Entering these temples was symbolically experienced as entering the womb of the Earth Goddess.

These sacred structures align with:

  • Summer and winter solstices the light shines through the temple doors
  • Equinoxes
  • Solar and lunar cycles

Many women on our retreat experience these sacred sites as places of:

  • Reflection and stillness
  • Reconnection with nature
  • Inner clarity and inspiration
  • A deeper connection with feminine wisdom
  • Wonder at humanity’s ancient spiritual heritage

Through guided meditation, ceremony and quiet contemplation, we create space to fully receive the unique energy of these remarkable places.

“There is a potent fertility line of energy through the ancient temples of  Ħaġar Qim, a strong connection to the cosmic mother’s womb of creation, that when alighted the womb expands. It’s a potent energy we can work with intent to enrich our heart and womb space with healing. The inner chambers of the temple are womb spaces where man goddess figures where found. Here energy lines are feminine but there is a gentle union of masculine energy which also flows inline and merges.” Kate Jane Wright

Gozo & Ġgantija – The Island of the Great Mother

Our journey continues to the peaceful island of Gozo, where we’ll spend three restorative nights surrounded by nature.

Here we’ll visit the magnificent Ġgantija Temples, among the oldest monumental structures on Earth and another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Gozo has a noticeably slower pace than Malta.

Its rolling countryside, dramatic coastline, hidden beaches and quiet villages create the perfect environment for rest, reflection and integration.

Alongside temple visits, we’ll enjoy:

  • Daily Kundalini Yoga and meditation
  • Sacred ceremonies
  • Breathwork and feminine embodiment practices
  • Shamanic sound healing
  • A boat trip to Comino and the Blue Lagoon
  • Beautiful beach rituals and sunset ceremonies
  • Plenty of time to swim, relax and simply be

Many women describe Gozo as the place where everything begins to settle—where insights deepen, friendships blossom and the heart opens.

Malta: Birthplace of Ancient Goddess Worship

Scholars believe Malta’s temple complexes were built to honour an ancient Great Mother Goddess, representing creation, fertility, death, and rebirth. The most famous artefacts — often called the “Fat Lady” or Venus of Malta — symbolise abundance, womb power, and the creative force of life itself.

In Kundalini traditions, this creative intelligence is known as Shakti energy — the rising serpent of consciousness. When women visit Malta, many report feeling a deep sense of remembrance, womb  activation, emotional release, and deep spiritual connection to mother earth.

This is why Malta is such a powerful location for a spiritual women’s retreat.

“I found this fertile line of the goddess was also present at the temple of Tarxien and on the island of Gozo, Ggantajia Temple. Here a beautiful snake is carved by ancestors on a giant megalith, representing Shakti power! Legend tells how a giantess called Sunsuna built this temple amongst a landscape of wild thyme. When I approached them my womb exploded in energy. It was spiralling through me, at specific entrance points of the inner chambers it was strongest. It’s as if the goddess is steeped into the earth with every step. Walking the land it’s hard not to be activated with the feminine energy. My womb-space has well and truly been lit-up!” Kate Jane Wright
